Certificate Course: Practical Skills in Molecular Biology

The first ‘Certificate course on practical skills in molecular biology’ undertaken by the Department of Genetics of Institute for Research and Development was successfully completed in November 2015. The aim of this practical course was to promote the transfer of technical and management skills which are essential to work in a molecular biology laboratory and in the field of bio-technology. The target group was post A/L students and undergraduate students. Students were introduced to the basics of theory and were given hands-on training in the techniques. The course was led by Shavindya Abeygunaratne and Lakshan Warnakula with Dr. Nishantha Kumarasinghe supervising the course.
