KDU, Keele University and IRD, SL enter in to a Tripartite MoU

General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) and the University of Keele, UK renewed the MoU initially signed in 2015 to collaborate in the areas of nursing and midwifery degree programmes. The MOU was signed in a formal ceremony held at KDU Senate on 20th September 2022.

In his remarks, the vice chancellor of KDU recalled the establishment in 2015 of the university’s friendly partnership with Keele University. He continued by expressing gratitude to Keele University for helping staff members obtain PhDs from Keele.

The Vice Chancellor of Keele University, Prof. Trevor McMillan, elaborated on potential avenues for future collaboration between the two universities. Prof. Athula Sumathipala also spoke, highlighting the cooperation between KDU and IRD over the years and the ways in which he helped the university with its research.

The Defence Attaché, British High Commission in Sri Lanka, Colonel Paul Clayton MBE expressed his gratitude to the Vice Chancellor of KDU for the university’s friendship with his country. He emphasized the importance of closer and more friendly cooperation between the two countries for mutual benefit.

Along with the Prof. Trevor McMillan Vice Chancellor of Keele University, Prof. Pauline Walsh Pro Vice-Chancellor – Dean of Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, Prof. David Law Academic Director – Global Partnerships and Prof. Eran Edirisinghe Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) Joined the signing event from Keele University.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration), Dean – Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Director – International Relations, Registrar, Deputy Registrar, HOD – Dept. of Nursing & Midwifery, Coordinator – Dept. of Nursing & Midwifery, and HOD – Dept. of Radiography & Radiotherapy also took part in the signing ceremony representing KDU.
